Joining Brazos Valley Detachment 1391

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO CAN JOIN?

Marines, FMF Corpsmen, FMF Chaplains, and anyone that wants to join a motivated Detachment that gets things done!

WHO ARE REGULAR MEMBERS?

Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Chaplains.

WHO ARE ASSOCIATE MEMBERS?

Any person that is not a Marine, FMF Corpsman, or FMF Chaplain.

ARE THERE DUES?

Yes - $35 dues are paid annually and are renewed each year by September 1.  A new member's first dues may be pro-rated based based on their join date.

Once a member has been in good standing for one year, they are eligible to become 'Paid for Life Members' - which is pro-rated based on age.  (Life members do not pay annual dues.)

IS THERE A UNIFORM?

Ownership of any uniform item is not required as a condition of membership.

That said - the scarlet and gold cover with gold EGA cap ornament is required to be considered 'in uniform.'  This cover is worn at events and activities to help provide visibility for our Detachment in the community.

Other uniform items are available for purchase, but are optional.  See Enclosure A of our Admin Procedures for more details.

HOW DO I JOIN?

First - complete the membership application.  If the prospective member is a Marine, FMF Corpsman, or FMF Chaplain, then be prepared to provide discharge papers or a DD-214.  (Visit the National Archives & Records for assistance with obtaining missing documents.)

Second - present the paperwork and payment for dues to the Detachment Paymaster - preferably at one of our monthly membership meetings.  (Visit our calendar to see when the next one is scheduled.)
